Cytoskeletal Diversity Insights

The cytoskeleton is vital for cell organisation and movement. While eukaryotic actin forms conserved double-stranded filaments, bacterial actins drive key functions and exhibit diverse architectures. We identify a novel actin family in Verrucomicrobiota, forming unique three-stranded filaments, offering insights into cytoskeletal diversity and evolution.
